Testing the Clone

hi all...

ok i made my first clone on a Seagate AgentPro 750GB HD and i want to test it to make sure that it's a bootable back up...how do i do that again? i restart my PowerBook G4 and hold the apple key as it startst to boot up and then select the partition with the clone?

and to go back to an regular (internal) boot, i just restart it w/o holding anything down, right?

also since the i have 750GB, i have 5 partions on the drive for my itunes lib., iphoto, lib., clone, time maching, misc., ...

is it OK to have that many partions? is there a downside to having a lot of partitions?

thanks for your help.
