Sure iSCSI may be slow if you are comparing it to USB and/or Firewire however it's 10 times faster than SMB/CIFS. As I understand it, SD will perform incremental backups, yes? So really only the first backup will the be most difficult. Furthermore, I could do the first backup locally on the LAN, and then transport the file server to the geographically disparate location and then just do incrementals from there. Does that make sense?
