...lastVolumeList.plist in Trash thing, again?

I find "com.shirtpocket.lastVolumeList.plist" in a Recovered files folder on starting up this iMac everyday. I found an archived thread in the Apple Forums from Oct, 2009 reporting this behavior. I think your solution back then was 'fergitaboutit' which I've been doing. But I'm growing tired of checking to see if it's something else.

That plist is somehow getting placed in ~/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems. And that's why it gets into the Recovered files. Is there something I can do to prevent this plist from ending up in that location, every day?

I also just found a thread here talking about a different problem but mentioning the "applet" item in the Security & Privacy pref panel needing to be checked/allowed. Mine was not and I've now checked it. I'll see if the Recovered files shows that plist being dumped again tomorrow morning. I believe that's an AppleScript that checks if SD [and Growl] is running) and is completely irrelevant to the plist dumping.

Using OSX 10.9.1, Growl and SD 2.7.1 (v91), BTW.

This is the volume tracking file from backup on connect. It's consciously placed in ~/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems, because that's cleared when you log out (unlike /tmp files). It's only placed in Recovered files (who knows why, since it's *obviously* a temporary file) when you log out or restart your Mac.

Really - I would not worry about it. (It's not related to 'applet'.)

Just strange that it started appearing a few weeks ago. Well after installing Mavericks and before making the 10.9.1 update. Not strange enough for me to bother investigating, just enough to pester you!

Just for more grins, I deleted the plist and manually ran SD. It did not reappear in that case. I suppose it is created/moved/copied by the code/script that runs when the backup is a scheduled event.

Oh well, take the rest of the day off and rest up for a Merry Christmas! Hope you have a great one with friends and family! See you next year!

As I said, it's about backup on connect. So, if you turn off all backup on connect schedules, you won't get the file. But it's supposed to be there, and the move to recovered files, while silly, is how Apple deals with these temporary files.
