Why is my external drive removed from Spotlight privacy after smart update?
For some reason every time smart update runs my external drive is removed from Spotlight's privacy list. Any ideas why? I'm using Super Duper 2.1.4 daily to backup my MBP. Thanks!

It really shouldn't do that, and I'm unable to reproduce this problem here, Tom. Are you sure that it stays in the privacy list across a restart normally? You're not running the "disable_spotlight" script as an after-copy action?

I'm having this problem in 2009, as are several others on this list, apparently. Has there been new progress on this problem? SuperDuper runs every Friday night on my iBook (10.5.8), and every Saturday morning I hear my external hard drive cranking away with Spotlight happily indexing it, and it's no longer in my "private" list. I put it back, and it stays there until the next Friday night.

No, this problem has not been reported for some time. As far as I am aware, your Privacy state should be entirely preserved on all Smart Updates...
