restore help

I created a restore file backup.dmg

I rebooted using the install disc, went into disc utility, found my external drive, selected the backup.dmg file and now it asks me to drag the destination drive over, but it won't let me drag or type in anything.

i'm stuck trying to restore...

Is this with an Intel mac? If so, please see this blog post (specifically the comments) for a solution.
