noobie q on sharing and scheduling

1. I ran the full copy first. Than I ran sandbox sharing. How does the sharing work - that is what does it mean? The third party apps are present only on the source volume? What if they get corrupted?

2. Does the scheduling work when the computer is asleep? I scheduled a 1:30 AM run but I cannot find any signs that it actually ran. The computer is sleeping at that time.

Sandbox is described in the User's Guide, so take a read there... sharing works by basically aliasing/symlinking the Home folder and some applications from the orginal volume. Yes, they can get corrupted, but the idea is that you run from the Sandbox when you want to install a system update. It's not a backup!

Schedules do not run when the Mac is sleeping, as explained in the 'guide. You need to set a wake event, using the Energy Saver preference pane, for one minute before the scheduled backup time (1:29am).

Thank you for the speedy response. I appologize for not reading the user manual.

I am now back to full smart copy because "sandbox" does not do anything useful for me. I have plenty of space and prefere to have a perfect "mirror" of my internal disk on an external one.

No apology necessary, and sounds like you're all set.
