Folder called 'private' being created on clone

Hi Dave,

I'm trying to make an exact copy of my 10.4.11. PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5's internal HD (250gb), on to an Iomega Ultramax 750gb. (Firewire 800).

After about two hours SuperDuper seemed to stop at 52gb evaluated, 51gb copied. The Iomega was still filling up at a fair pace though. Then I noticed a new folder on the Iomega called private, weighing in at >320gb. Within that are 2 more folders (var and tftpboot). Within var there's a folder called log containing windowserver.log (303gb) that just keeps growing.

Sorry if I've given too much info. Hope you can help.

Many thanks,

Ade

You have a problem with your windowserver that's logging a huge amount of information. Try restarting, then recreate your copy. Check the windowserver.log in the Console application first, though, to make sure it's not logging nuttily again.

Thanks Dave.

Ran Onyx, rebooted and everything cloned in about two hours.

Great support.
