Growl MailMe doesn't work

OK, I know this is a Growl issue and not an SD issue, but I'm wondering if anyone here has managed to get it to work with SD? I get these errors:

2/9/11 7:38:49 AM GrowlHelperApp[3948] MailMe: Could not get password for SMTP account <username>@smtp.me.com:25: -25300/ / The item cannot be found.

Sounds like your server configuration in the Mail application isn't complete for the user you're running Growl with.

I'm not sure what could be incomplete. I'm pretty sure it's a Growl issue having to do with MobileMe, but I was hoping maybe somebody here would have found a fix or workaround.

Actually I had exactly the same problem and could never figure out a solution. For reasons irrelevant to this discussion I decided to eliminate my MobileMe account from Mail.app - as soon as I did that Growl MailMe started working perfectly (for all applications, not just SD). My guess, after extensive investigation, is that an old, outdated MobileMe account somehow was being tapped by MailMe and the ID/PW combo was incorrect.

In short, I'm sure precisely what fixed it but if you are willing to experiment I suggest removing the MobileMe account from Mail (presuming you have another account set up in Mail) and run SD to see if MailMe works. I'm betting it will.

Hope this helps.

No MailMe for me...

I've read up on SD and MailMe/Growl for over a year but cannot find what I "think" I recall. But to sum up.
I use SD at home and from home I get MailMe notices sent to my .mac account just fine.

At work I use SD but long ago the emails quit coming from there.

I "think" I recall reading about a problem with MailMe breaking if .mac (mobileme) was the FIRST account in Mail.app. But both at home and work I have my office email listed first.

Today I see Growl 1.2.2 and a on MacUpdate that "MailMe should be able to send using MobileMe accounts now" so of course I jumped on it.

Since SD still won't send me emails from the office Mac I cam back to these discussions and found this thread. So at work I have now deleted and recreated my MobileMe account. While I had it deleted I quit/relaunched Mail and tried a Growl/MailMe preview and that failed. I re-added my account and tested and still failed.

Here is the log of the failure and it has something to do with smtp login failure. My Mail.app does have several accounts (.mac, a .gov, gmail and even a mauimail.com) so how can I tell which smtp server it it trying to use? I have no such error when trying to sent from any of these accounts within Mail.app.

As a side note I will say that deleting/recreating my .Mac fixed notices from GrowlMail :-)

thanks for any help

Unfortunately, I can't really provide help for Growl/MailMe. We support the program, of course, but they're really the only ones in a position to assist with its own notification methods...

oh well...

I had hoped / expected some others had encountered and knew a fix for the no MailMe quirk. From what I've come across the old Growl forums were archived and there seems to be little there now.
