External drive no longer visible

During my migration over to Leopard, I had occasion to reboot into Tiger from my SD backup located on an external firewire non-partitioned LaCie drive. Pressing Opt at start-up showed me the external drive and my (hosed by Leopard) internal non-bootable drive. Selected the external drive and it booted up flawlessly.

I cleaned out the garbage on my internal boot drive left over from the first leopard install attempt and restarted opting for the Leopard DVD. Seemed to go OK but the next time I hit Option at startup, my external drive was no longer visible as a boot option. I didn't run any programs (at least none initiated by me) and so I'm curious to know why the external drive became no longer visible at startup.

Would add that having a complete backup of all my data, network set-up, accounts etc on the external drive made migrating my data over effortless so many thanks to SD for that.

Not sure, Roger, but I'd try powering both Mac and drive off. Unplug the drive from the Mac, get to Option+boot, then plug in the drive. Refresh (if applicable) and see if it appears...

Thanks Dave...working now.

Just a suggestion. Could you post a Sticky that outlines your recommendations vis a vis SuperDuper and Leopard? I'm looking forward to the next release of SD that is Leopard-compatible. Is there a timneline for this?

That sticky is pretty short: it's not compatible yet. See http://www.shirt-pocket.com/blog (or the SuperDuper! page of the site)...
