moving all non system files across

i suspect my system is corrupted and therefore reinstalled the system disks that came with the computer on my external drive (10.4). i would now like to transfer all the non system files i hv on my harddrive to this external drive including internet settings etc, and thereafter use software update to get to latest version of tiger. once i ensure everything is working well, i will clone back to the internal hard disk again.

how do i go abt this ?, i understand apple migration assistant will not let you migrate from a newer system 10.4.7 to an older one 10.4.0

can super duper just clone the non system files to the external drive. i tried 'backup user files only', but that did not work, it seems to have backed up user files, but not applications, settings etc

tks

nals

You can definitely migrate from 10.4.7 to 10.4, so I would do that (with the backup as the source), Nals. Or, I'd just restore the entire backup...
