Using SuperDuper by Connecting Pismo to eMac via Firewire - Help?

Hi all,

I'm very unsure of how to use SuperDuper for the first time. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Just got a Pismo laptop. The seller recommended backing up the system via SuperDuper just in case something goes wrong. I run OS10.4 on the Pismo.

I also read on SuperDupers info that I will need to back up to a Firewire device in order to make a bootable backup. Within that info, it said it would be okay to connect two computers via firewire cable (my pismo OS 10.4 and emac 10.3.9?) and back up that way.

Questions:
Can they have two different OS's? (my pismo OS 10.4 and emac 10.3.9?)

If my Pismo HD dies, and I have to put in a new HD someday, can I use the backup I made to set up the replacement drive?

The drive on my eMac isn't partitioned. Is this a problem?

(Am waiting to hear from a user's group about which firewire cable to buy to fit between my Pismo and eMac)

Thank you for any help you can offer !
