SD copy boots mbp but not g5

Hmmm, it's probably me and there must be a simple fix for this...

I've made a SD clone of my MBP's drive (La Cie firewire drive) and it boots my MBP just fine, but it won't boot my g5 imac.

So, should I erase and reformat the drive with Apple's disc utility, and redo the SD copy and that would fix it? Perhaps the drive was originally partitioned with the mbr scheme and that's why?

So far, SuperDuper is the greatest thing since sliced bread; but if this can be overcome, it'll be even better still...

Thanks in advance!

Karl
