Recommend low cost 2.5" enclosure?
Hi all,
I've just bought a couple of 160G 2.5" drives in order to back up my nice new Macbook, only to find that the Smartdisk Firewire enclosures I planned to install them into will only support capacities up to 128 GB. They work, but the drive only shows up as a 128 GB drive. So any recommendations for a low cost, USB or Firewire 2.5" IDE drive enclosure that can be successfully used for bootable SuperDuper backups on a Macbook? (By low cost I really mean cheap as in eBay cheap - I can't justify paying lots of money to access the extra capacity of those drives.) I've seen one seller offering one at a reasonable price that claims to have the EPASS8801 Firewire and GL811E USB chipsets - anyone heard of these and do they work? Or have people had good or bad experiences with super-cheap no-brand USB enclosures? Ta for any advice! |
