Using SuperDuper after a theft

My 2 year old Mac Book Pro was stolen this weekend. It's been a huge loss, but I am so thankful I have been regularily backing up it's contents using SuperDuper. My laptop is gone, but my work remains.

I am planning to get a new MacBook. What is the best way to restore all of the files, programs, applications, etc from my external hard drive that I was using with SuperDuper to my new computer? I imagine the new computer will have newer versions of iLife, so I don't want to clone the back up on to the new laptop, do I?

Any assistance or direction you can provide would be most appreciated!

Thanks!
