complete restoration (upgrade)
Hello,
I hope I am not duplicating another query. However, I have backed up my ibook's 30g drive to my external firewire drive. Now I would like to take the 30g out of my ibook and replace it with an 80g. How do I get the backup onto the new 80g from the firewire drive? Thanks, Paul. |

You put the 30G into the firewire case, boot from it, and copy back. Alternatively, you can use your OSX install CD/DVD and do the copy -- see the User's Guide section on "recovering from a disaster".

I cannot put the 30g into the case without an adapter....I'm sorry about the guide thing. I'm at work right now. I'll check it as soon as I'm home.
Thanks again, Paul. |

Ah. Well, then, you'll copy the 30G to the 80G and then just swap them. As long as you wrote directly to the 80G, you should be able to boot from it no problem.
