Selective Restoration?
Please pardon the newbie nature of this question, but I'm wondering about some of the Restore capabilities of SD!
My iBook G4 no longer boots (gets to full progress bar and then just cycles). I have been able to bring it up in target mode and know that I can get to my files. Disc Utility - Restore crapped out and in researching alternate solutions, SD! came as the most highly recommended. If I use SD! to back up my HD in target mode, will I be able to selectively restore things from that backup? Since it seems like there is a corrupted file in the OSX, I wouldn't want to restore the whole drive, but would want to restore my apps, docs, etc. after I wipe the drive and reinstall Tiger. Thanks for your help! |

In this case, you'd probably want to use the migration assistant, which appears during the first startup, to migrate from the backup. That'll bring over your apps and data, but not the OS.
