Kernel Panic follow-up

Greetings. I came across a thread (via google) by Luhmann, stating that SuperDuper! was causing a Kernel panic. I'm having similar issues although my backups kernel when superduper is only partway through.

In the post, dnanian, posted this:
"It could definitely be some kind of Firewire related bug.

Let's do this: generate a System Profiler report with the drive attached. Save it (with File | Save) to the default (XML) format, and send it to support at shirt-pocket dot com (don't attach it here), along with the panic log. I'll take a look and reply, and we can post a summary up here to not leave the thread hanging.

Sound reasonable?"

Unfortunately, the results were never posted. Was anything ever determined? I too suspect firewire and not superduper, but don't know where to begin.

I've located the case from way back in January, and his particular problem was, indeed, his FireWire drive failing under load, which then caused various weird panics.

He determined, after some work, that the panic itself was caused by his Wacom tablet driver, which was an old version, but that might not be relevant in your case.

If you could send your System Profiler report to me via email (to the support address), I'll take a look and see if I can find a cause.

I'd also give Safe Boot a try, to see if that helps. To do so, hold down Shift while powering on, and keep it down. Then, once you reach the desktop, try SD! again and see if it succeeds.
