Kernel Panic attack using SD2.5
Hi Dave,
I was doing a backup to my Firewire using SD 2.5. It had nearly finished the backup when the dreaded kernel panic attacked. Obviously I had to restart but has the backup been corrupted? The crash panic log see below. panic(cpu 1 caller 0x001D29A6): vnode_put(45a8ef4): iocount < 1 Backtrace, Format - Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack) 0x2512bb18 : 0x128d0d (0x3cc65c 0x2512bb3c 0x131f95 0x0) 0x2512bb58 : 0x1d29a6 (0x3d551c 0x45a8ef4 0x0 0x0) 0x2512bb88 : 0x1d2a5c (0x45a8ef4 0x0 0x2512bdd4 0x0) 0x2512bba8 : 0x1c0e82 (0x45a8ef4 0x2512be34 0x2512bf28 0x2512bf28) 0x2512bf58 : 0x37b300 (0x4bf2bb8 0x4cae878 0x4cae8bc 0x0) 0x2512bfc8 : 0x19b77e (0x4c0ed60 0x0 0x19e0b5 0x38f93d0) No mapping exists for frame pointer Backtrace terminated-invalid frame pointer 0xbffff088 Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 8.11.1: Wed Oct 10 18:23:28 PDT 2007; root:xnu-792.25.20~1/RELEASE_I386 Model: MacBookPro2,2, BootROM MBP22.00A5.B07, 2 processors, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz, 2 GB Graphics: ATI Radeon X1600, ATY,RadeonX1600, PCIe, 256 MB Memory Module: BANK 0/DIMM0, 1 GB, DDR2 SDRAM, 667 MHz Memory Module: BANK 1/DIMM1, 1 GB, DDR2 SDRAM, 667 MHz AirPort: AirPort Extreme, 1.2.2 Bluetooth: Version 1.9.5f4, 2 service, 0 devices, 1 incoming serial ports Serial ATA Device: Hitachi HTS541612J9SA00, 111.79 GB Parallel ATA Device: MATSHITADVD-R UJ-857D USB Device: Built-in iSight, Micron, Up to 480 Mb/sec, 500 mA USB Device: Bluetooth USB Host Controller, Apple, Inc., Up to 12 Mb/sec, 500 mA USB Device: IR Receiver, Apple Computer, Inc., Up to 12 Mb/sec, 500 mA USB Device: Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad, Apple Computer, Up to 12 Mb/sec, 500 mA FireWire Device: LaCie Hard Drive FireWire+, LaCie Group SA, Up to 400 Mb/sec Do you think it was anything to do with SuperDuper? It isn't mentioned. Jeffus. Edit, I should mention Dave I had open apps open (I don't normally backing up with SD with open apps, just forgot to close them). Just done another Smart backup this time I got the freeze up. I have auto update dissabled. Got to 60,000 files out of 140,000 evaluated then progress bar stopped as did everything else apart from SD clock. Then it finished and the normal 3 green bar screen appeared.
