Bootable "Clean" 10.5.x?

I keep thinking that "some day" I'm going to do this but I never do:

I have a small 2.5 SATA HD that I'm not using anymore. It's in an external case.

I'd like to copy my legal non-machine-specific version of my Leopard 10.5.0 DVD onto it, along with the latest combo updater and a few other goodies (latest iTunes/Quicktime/etc/iWork) to make an emergency drive that I can use for not only re-installing OS X but also software packages (Word 2008, iWork, especially).

1) Can SuperDuper "backup" my DVD to an external HD such that I could use it to install?

2) If I do that, can I add another folder to the external HD where I'd store the other programs that I want to be able to reinstall if needed?

Thanks!

TjL
