Password Protection

I plan on keeping a bootable copy of my computer backed up to an external HD, then running smart updates every week. Here is my dilemma:

Is there a way to have incremental backups to that copy and also have them password protected? If I've got an external HD sitting around I'd hate to prying eyes get a hold of all that personal info.

I know I can make an encrypted disk image through apple's Disk Utility. But if I went down that road wouldn't I have to back up my entire computer each time? Seems tedious and time consuming. There has to be a way to do that incrementally. Is there an option I'm overlooking in SuperDuper that can take care of this?
