One thing that might not be obvious to the first-time user of netTunes is that it won't work properly if your firewall is on and not configured properly...either on the client or server.
If you're using the firewall, you should lock down the netTunes Server port (using the Preference Pane), and allow that port through by configuring the firewall on both the client and server machines. This can be done pretty easily in the Sharing preference pane -- just add a new "rule" and specify the port you used for the netTunes Server port. Any questions -- just ask!
