CReating a boot Leopard install drive from a dvd

Hi people

I use a MacBook Pro 17 Core2 and i want to be able to install Leopard from my Hard Drive instead of a DVD.

Now i made a DMG file of the DVD, verified and all., But when i try to RESTORE the Leopard Image to the drive with Disk Utilities i get error 2 or 16.

I am using a Firewire 320GB HD.

Can anyone advise a step by step way to get this done so i can Boot "Leopard installer" from my external HD?

Cheers
