Firewire 800 slower than 400?
I have been using an IDE drive in an external case connecting to my G5 Dual Core 2.3GHz Mac via Firewire 400. Purchased a Hardbox SATA external case connecting via Firmwire 800.
Whilst both backup satisfactorily using Smart BackUp, and both are bootable, the 400 connection with the IDE drive is some two minutes faster than the SATA drive connected by Firewire 800. Any suggestions please? I would have thought a SATA drive using the Firewire 800 would be much quicker. |

I don't know why that would be, apart from a bad FW800 cable and/or implementation in the case/bridge board.

Thanks have ordered a new cable and will keep you posted. If implementation was faulty surprised it would work at all. How does one check that out, if possible, please?
