Restore and change file system?

I installed Leopard with HFS+ with journaling and case-sensitivity and just found out Photoshop Elements 6 WON'T install to case-sensitivity. Is it possible to clone to an external drive, re-format the boot volume without case-sensitivity, re-install Leopard and then clone BACK from the external to get everything you had, just with a changed file system?
