permissions issues w/backup and readyNas
Hi,
I am writing a specific question about a readyNas (Infrant ReadyNAS NV) and attached Macs (OSX 10.4.10) b/c I'd learned that David had a similar environment: http://www.shirt-pocket.com/forums/s...ighlight=bthom After a smart backup (incremental update of entire Mac disk to Nas) I tell SD to run a script that updates any diffs between a Nas media folder and stuff on my Mac. The script I wrote runs fine if I call it manually from the Terminal, but when superDuper runs it, it fails. In particular, rsync complains about permissions problems. I now realize superDuper is running the script as root; is there a way to control who runs it? And at a higher level, if I'm backing up a particular user's files over an AFP connection, does it even make sense to have root run such a script? Advice appreciated. Thanks! --b |
